PRJFury

So tonight was the debut for Jungle Fury! It was an hour long special that we have been waiting for for weeks. Since Hank has been sick I went to Wal-Mart and got him the two other Jungle Fury power rangers that he wanted. It was fun and I finally saw a smile on his face after three days.

His three Jungle Fury Power Rangers!

My favorite! Green Elephant runner

Getting better

Hank is getting better, according to him. He is only a little bit sick today and is a lot better. He does this little thing with his fingers to show you exactly how much better he is feeling. We are still sitting at home today and watching tv. Tonight is Power Rangers Jungle Fury debut so we are getting ready for our celebration at 5:00. I promised popcorn and a party so that is what we are doing. Hank has been marking the days off for about three weeks waiting for today.

I will post again after our power rangers party with some pictures.

Sick Again

So it is 1:00 AM. We just got out of sitting in our bathroom with a hot shower running and a shower steamer in the tub. If you don't know what that is it is a pellet you put in the shower and it releases a mentholatum steam. Hank has had a fever pretty much all day. It goes away for a little while then it comes right back. His fever is sitting at about 102 right now but he just took some more bubble gum medicine and hopefully will be ok again soon. If not I guess we might be making a late night/early morning trip to the doctors. I guess it is a good thing that his mom is normally a night owl, and that we have the day off tomorrow.

Big Kid School - He got in!

We received a letter stating:
Dear Kris,
We are pleased to inform you that Hank has been officially accepted into Kindergarted class for the 2008-2009 school year. ETC.....

Hank was so excited! BUt he wanted to know why the letter wasn't to him and it was to me! I told him that they had to tell his mom since I was the one paying for it. Anyway I am excited as well. I am glad that Hank got into private school for me it was important that he is in a small classroom and will get the individual learning experience. I also like that he will be wearing a uniform, this will save money on clothes and keeping up with his friends. I also thought it was awesome that Old Navy is in the middle of their kids sale so I purchased a couple of shirts tonight in celebration!

Will Always Remember

My Aunt Barbs birthday is today! She is an amazing person whom is so loved and deeply missed.

I spent Valentines day SAD - Some people think this was because it was Single Awareness Day, for me it was sad because all I could think of was My Aunt drawing a Valentine on her stomach for the doctors. She was happy and positive and laughed the whole time. This was one of the last times that she laughed the way only she could laugh. I know that she is laughing today and is pain free and enjoying her birthday.

Our Fun Snow Evening

So we could not go out and play in the snow last night. It was cold and there were huge wind gusts, Hank would have blown away (his words). So we played Power Rangers, that is the favorite game at our house that is for sure! He has these power rangers that have all of these additional pieces to them, when combined they make an animal. Or you can put the pieces on the ranger and it morphs the ranger into battle mode. I can't beleive how my vocabulary has grown since watching power rangers :) Anyway here are some cute pictures of Hank with the Red Power Ranger and his Lion. (He couldn't get me to make the other animals).

Running through Sprinklers....What?

So in order to understand this post you would have to read the Hollinger Blog. This is what the weather looks like here today in Utah. So much for Spring time and running through the sprinklers. Maybe we can build a snowman this weekend!

And we are going to get another inch. The most horrible part of this storm is not the amount of snow it is the winds. I am just glad that I do not live down in Utah County. They have kids who are still at their elementary school, and it is 9:30 at night.

Our tree from our porch.

Big Kid School

So Hank and I went and checked out his new Big Kid School on Sunday. Wow was that hard, I didn't realize how emotional it would be for me. I think we have made our decision to send him to Redeemer Lutheran School. This is the same school that our cousin Andrew went to and Grandma B used to teach Kindergarten there. Hank thought it was really cool that Papa B had built the play hut that was still in his new classroom. The Pastors wife will be his teacher her name is Cathy Fisher. So Hank is excited and if you ask him why the main reasons are:
1. He will get three reeces
2. No Nap time
3. Really cool toys to play with.

I am excited because he will be learning and growing. He also will be wearing uniforms so I won't have to buy as many articles of clothing :)

Papas Birthday

Sunday we all had dinner at Papa Greats house for his birthday. Some of the family was able to make it, Sherry, Craig, Brandon, Jeffrey, Grandma Janet, Briant, Kim, Hank and I. Of course Grandma and Papa were there. I know it was Super Bowl Sunday but since I do not watch sports I had fun watching Hank play with Uncle Bri.
Aunt Sherry made a coconut cake for Papa and cupcakes for the rest of us. The family members who were not able to be there were missed dearly.

Here is the picture of the Power Rangers that Hank

finished coloring after Aunt Carole sent it to him!

Grocery Shopping

So I caved in and went grocery shopping. I hate shopping of any kind. Ok I do enjoy shopping for crafts but that is it. Hank and I were armed with a grocery list and a few coupons so we went to Harmons to get the shopping done. $175 later we left the store. The good thing is that we now have some healthy food to eat and will not have to shop again for a long time. We have lived in our apartment for almost a year and I have only gone grocery shopping like that three times now. No wonder Hank never eats anything healthy. (those are his words)

Aunt Carole

My sister sent Hank a partially colored Power Ranger paper. He thought this was the coolest thing in the world. He wanted to finish it right away. Sometimes I wonder how my sister finds the time to do all that she does. She has three kids a husband and herself. How does she have time to partially color a picture to send to my four year old. I was in tears this evening as I realized how much time I don't have to do all the little things in life I would love to be able to do! I consider myself one of the luckiest people around to have the family that I do so my son can get those great letters in the mail from his aunt and cousins.

Being Sick

Being a single mom has its own challenges but one that brought itself up this weekend was getting sick. Hank was very sick on Friday and Saturday. He kept running a fever and just wanted to be held. So of course as any mom would I did exactly what he needed. Thanks to my Mom for bringing food for us and some more medicine. Then the craziest thing happened... I got sick. So when the mom runs a fever of 102 and is barely getting out of bed what happens? I will tell you what happened at my house. Hank my little man decided it was his job to take care of mom, he made a bed for himself on the floor so he could be next to me but not have me breathing on him so he wouldn't get more sicker. He watched movies and television. Made his own chocolate milk, got his own apple juice. He was such a little helper. When I had mom pick him up on Monday afternoon he didn't want to go, he was taking care of me and that is where he wanted to be. Hank went to his Papas and spent the night. On Tuesday morning Papa took Hank to the doctor, he has an ear infection in both ears. I took myself to the doctor and I have a bad Flu. So we are both now on antibiotics and are hopefully on our way to be healthier. Hank thinks it is great that we both have to take the Doctor medicine for ten days. He also thinks it is funny that my pills are almost the size of his thumb. I will have to take some pictures and post again soon.

Christmas

Hank and I decided to go "Surprise" Aunt Carole in San Diego for Christmas. We left on Friday after work about four o'clock. The longest drive portion for Friday was just getting out of Salt Lake. We drove to Mesquite and spent the night. The hotel had a kids game room so Hank was able to play a few games and earn tickets. Made me remember going with my dad and playing games and then buying stupid stuff with the tickets. Hank chose a little airplane and some glow in the dark spiders. Then we tried to talk to Aunt Carole on the phone. This was difficult because Hank was jumping from one bed to the other in the hotel room. So the phone conversation was cut short. I didn't go through all that work to have the surprise ruined before we got there!

On Saturday we woke up and drove the rest of the way to California. But the whole family was at Sea World. So off to Sea World we went, calling friends on the way to get directions because I didn't know what freeway exit to take. When we finally arrived at Sea World Hank called Abby to find out what she was doing. Come to find out they were walking out the front gates to go eat lunch! "Hurry up and hide behind this pole mom" then they passed us and Hank started yelling Abby! The look on their faces when they realized it was Hank and Aunt Kris was priceless. Wish I had my camera out and got a shot of that one! So travel tired and grumpy Hank spent the day at Sea World with his cousins. He was not too happy about posing for this picture. In the end Hank and I had an awesome time with the family at Sea World.

His First Party

I just sent Hank out the door to his first Friends birthday party. His Aunt Kim is nice enough to volunteer (ok maybe I asked her) to take him tonight. I have a Pampered Chef party and I also would not be able to bounce of the walls with him. He will have a blast and I am so excited for him. He couldn't wait, he combed his own hair, used a lot of hair gel :) And looked so grown up I couldn't beleive it. Jason is his Best Friend from school so they were both excited that Hank was able to go tonight. I can't say how much I appreciate my family and that they are willing to help me be a mom to Hank. We are lucky to have family and friends around that help to share the joys and trials of being a single mom.

Remembering

I spent the weekend feeling blue about life. Financial strains, sick child, homework, housecleaning...you know all the normal single mom stuff.

On Friday evening after Hank was done Sapbooking (jealous of him he got three pages done) I put him in my bed so he would go to sleep. Thanks to my sister I realized I had let him stay up until about midnight. I spent some time on the phone with my sister. After our conversation of about two hours I sat on my couch and just cried and let all my emotions out.

This is what I thought about:

My life is going to continue for an endetermined amount of days. I can spend these days sitting here crying, or I can make some better choices.

Remember what it was like to be carefree, to run around outside without your shoes on? I remember what it was like to visit Papa and get ice cream. Remember when you didn't have to worry about cooking dinner, macaroni and cheese was fine if mom wasn't cooking for you.

I have come to the conclusion that I want Hank to have memories of carefree days, enjoying life. I found a picture of my Aunt Barbs with hair extensions on and a big smile on her face. She was genuinely happy and enjoying every minute of us making fun of her. I want everyone who knows me to have some memory of me being carefree and HAPPY.
So my goal is to create memories like that for myself and for Hank. I am going to start with at least a once a week thing. No tv no computer just pure fun.

Hank had a blast being Superman for Halloween. Didn't take too many pictures but he enjoyed himself.

After about six houses he was done getting candy. He would go up and say Happy Halloween, and then if they didn't have a candy he liked he would say "no Thank you". He even told one lady he didn't need anymore candy it isn't good for him he needs to stay healthy. Not sure where he gets that from! The lady ended up giving him Play Dough instead.

We had our friend John and his son go with us it was fun.

What A Women Wants Show Part 2

I am done working my booth at the show. I met a lot of great people, and some weird ones. I had a good time though learning different things that I can do to get myself out of my shy shell. Now hopefully I can get some future parties booked (and maybe recruit). The main part of why I enjoy Pampered Chef is because it gives me some adult conversation. Which being single is fun to have adult conversation that is not revolving around who I am dating or what my son did today. I also have enjoyed realizing that I can make fun food without too much work. Oh yeah and I make money so that is always good!

I am exhausted two days on my feet four only four hours a day :) I really need to start using that gym membership I pay for every month.
